MMD shader suite for Direct3D 9
Physically based rendering for MikuMikuDance
Contact-hardening shadows, screen-space GI, AgX color, and a calibrated material library, built for MMD and MME.
Feature index
Rendering systems
Twelve systems replace the stock MMD lighting path, from shadow contact to the final grade.
-
Contact-hardening shadows
PCSS models the 0.53° solar disk across four cascades, with screen-space contact shadows for the last few centimetres.
-
Screen-space GI and reflections
SSGI and SSPT gather indirect bounces. SSR adds roughness-aware reflections with visibility maps that keep edges stable.
-
Horizon-based occlusion
GTAO and hybrid HBAO/SSDO use occlusion-aware bent normals, so contact shading stays readable on faces and cloth.
-
AgX and Khronos tonemapping
Blender 4.0 AgX, AgX Punchy, and Khronos PBR Neutral, with highlight roll-off that holds color instead of clipping to white.
-
Calibrated skin and UE5 SSS
A calibrated skin suite with dual-lobe specular, wrapped diffuse, backlit transmission, and UV-space diffusion.
-
Hair and hashed alpha
Marschner R and TRT highlights, energy-preserving GGX, and band-limited hashed alpha without fringe crawl.
-
Eyes and iris parallax
Convex corneal normals, Snell refraction parallax, and an analytical iris caustic for close-up shots.
-
Ten-domain shader pipeline
The Shader tree is split into ten domains, with dedicated PMX controllers for lighting, camera, bloom, and debug.
-
Temporal anti-aliasing
Catmull-Rom history, Karis luma weighting, variance clipping, and depth-validated reprojection.
-
CAS, bokeh, and halation
FidelityFX CAS, hexagonal bokeh with iris blades, Karis bloom, and spectral film halation.
-
Glass and dispersion
Physical RGB dispersion, tinted glass presets, and forced-transparency materials for windows and water.
-
Foliage and cloth
Two-sided wrapped transmission for leaves and paper, Charlie sheen for cloth, and vertex wind animation.
